Happy New Year! It’s a new year, which means new 2022 wedding trends! In this article,we will talk about the 2022 wedding trends that we will all see this year and some of them might not be what you expected. Now I wrote this blog earlier in the year and meant to post it but holy moly how is it already February? Time flew by and to be honest I got COVID. Really had to take a few weeks off to focus on my health and happy to report I am feeling 100% again. I am so excited to share these 2022 wedding trends with you as I am sure you’ll definitely want to use them in your own wedding!
Because of the of the pandemic and lockdown in 2020, we have had to think of alternative ways to get married while still complying to the CDC guidelines. Soon all couples had no choice but to postpone, cancel, or downsize their wedding. Most of which either eloped or only invited their closets friends and family and had their ceremony from their backyard. Fast forward 2 years later, couples are choosing to have intimate ceremonies from a backyard and celebrate their wedding reception later. After the inflation in the economy, I predict a lot of couple will go this route.
would rather start their lives and save up for a home, travel, or start a family. Elopements are the way to go for any couple who wants to get married immediately, celebrate later, or only care about their closest circle being with them at that moment. All the decor and floral is the bonus.
Since the shutdown so many people spend a lot of time at home. This gave great inspiration to interior design and incorporating into wedding receptions as a “home” feel into the reception. You can start seeing centerpieces that look like plants, place settings, or chairs you would find in any modernized home. This 2022 wedding trend I feel is here to stay for years to come.
At one point linens were the must have for weddings and still are if you have the budget for it. Per table you can find linens from $30-$200. And when you add up the costs that’s a lot. I have found that a lot of my couples are ditching the table linens and asking for speciality tables made out of wood. When you compare the price of linens and a banquet table compared to a speciality table and napkins the price comes out a bit even. Although it depends on the design and fabric used for the linen.
Neon signs are here to stay! I am absolutely loving this 2022 wedding trend. This has been a trend for a few years now but more often I see couples prioritizing ways their wedding can be “instagram worthy” and neon signs + photo booths are always a hit.
This one is an interesting prediction! Recently I attended a wedding conference about 2022 wedding trends for music. The DJ that was the guest speaker talked about how couples are asking for live bands or DJs to play pop songs in a swing, jazz, or classical version. I know it might seem odd, but found this group on Youtube and the exemplify exactly what I am talking about. This group is called Postmodern Jukebox and I have linked a sample of their work here. In this video you’ll hear the song “This Is How We Do It” in a parody swing version. Interesting right? I am honestly here for this trend and hope it becomes even more popular! I love it!
I am not talking about disposable film, I’m talking about professional film photography. You can have your photographer have digital and film so you have options, but film photography is so timeless and classical. My favorite is black and white! These are images you’ll have in your home and hung up for you to see everyday, so naturally you’re going to want amazing photography. Film is the 2022 wedding trend you should definitely do this year, you won’t be disappointed.
This year, not only do you have a first dance, but you may also have a private dance with your partner! Can you imagine how romantic and intimate that would be? This can happen once all guests leave and they are getting ready for your send off. Meanwhile, you and your partner have the whole venue to yourself to have that intimate dance. That is also a great opportunity for one amazing shot to add to the photo album.
As you can see COVID played a huge part in all of these 2022 wedding trends. But none the less I am here for it! I cannot wait to see all of these come together and the spectacular weddings that will be celebrated this year. This years predicted to be the most weddings ever since the 80s so there will be celebrations none stop. I hope you found this article helpful and if you did please share it with a friend, give it a like, or pin it!
